Herb Meiberger was first elected to a five-year term on the Retirement Board in 1992, and has served for 24 years in that capacity.

Mr. Meiberger was hired by the Retirement System in 1986 as a security analyst where he served until  his retirement in 2006. His service to the Retirement System has included:
   – Directly managing and overseeing the fixed income portfolios
   – Monitoring compliance of the asset  managers
   – Working on the alternative investment portfolio


Currently, Mr. Meiberger teaches corporate finance and investments at San Francisco State University and Finance at HULT International Business School.

Herb Meiberger holds:
  • B.A. in  Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of South Dakota
  • M.B.A. in finance from the  University of California, Berkeley
He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1987.
